Question 1

What is YuE2 and how does it generate full songs?

Accepted Answer

YuE2 is an open-weights foundation music model developed by Multimodal Art Projection (M·A·P) and academic collaborators. It unifies symbolic planning (ABC notation and chord progressions) and neural audio diffusion, generating complete songs with full vocals and accompaniment in 48kHz high-fidelity stereo.

Question 2

How does Symbolic Planning differ from black-box AI music models?

Accepted Answer

Traditional AI music generators act as black boxes where users cannot intervene in chord structures, tempo, or melodies. YuE2 first produces an explicit, transparent ABC 2.1 musical score as an intermediate Chain-of-Thought (CoT) representation, allowing human musicians and AI agents to reharmonize, transpose, and adjust arrangements before audio rendering.

Question 3

How does YuE2 approach a song?

Accepted Answer

YuE2 writes an editable ABC score first, then renders audio. Exports are the ABC score, MIDI note tracks parsed from that score (master, vocal, instrument, and chords), a MusicXML lead sheet, and a 48kHz stereo FLAC mix. There is no separated audio-stem download.

Question 4

How do Audio-to-Score Transcription and MERT2 work in the YuE2 ecosystem?

Accepted Answer

YuE2 integrates an audio-to-score neural transcription pipeline capable of transcribing raw audio into structured ABC sheets and multi-track MIDI. MERT2 (and MERT2-FS) is a self-supervised music representation foundation model that excels across the MARBLE benchmark for music understanding and retrieval.

Question 5

Can I edit the chords and melody with natural language?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The built-in YuE2 Music Agent understands music theory and conversational instructions, such as reharmonizing pop chords into jazz ii-V-I progressions, transposing keys, shifting octaves, or verifying measure alignments.

Question 6

What are the licensing terms for YuE2 weights and output audio?

Accepted Answer

YuE2-3B model weights are released by M·A·P under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, while inference code is Apache 2.0. Individual creators retain rights to use their generated musical pieces in creative projects. Note that AI-generated audio cannot guarantee complete exemption from third-party copyright or Content ID similarity matches; users are advised to review before major commercial distribution.

Question 7

What is the relationship between yue2music.com and the M·A·P team?

Accepted Answer

YuE2 Music Studio (yue2music.com) is an independent, community-driven cloud creation platform built upon the open-source YuE2 foundation model. We provide a hosted Web UI, symbolic editing tools, and GPU inference runners to help musicians create music without setting up local GPU environments. We are not the official academic institution, and we actively maintain and display full academic citations to the original authors.

Question 8

Do new users get free credits? How do I claim the 20 free credits?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Every new user receives 20 free credits immediately upon registration, without needing to link a credit card. Since a full 48kHz studio master render costs 10 credits, your 20 free credits allow you to generate up to 2 complete songs (credits are valid for 7 days), explore ABC score editing, or test our AI accompaniment capabilities 100% risk-free.

Question 9

What is the pricing model? Can I buy credits without a subscription?

Accepted Answer

You can buy one-time credit packs or an optional monthly or yearly subscription that you can cancel. A subscription is not required to purchase credits. A full 48kHz master song costs 10 credits, and Music Theory Agent tweaks cost 2 credits. One-time credit packs expire after a fixed period: Creator Pass 30 days, Pro Musician 90 days, Studio Master 180 days.

Question 10

Will I be charged if generation fails? Does the system support automatic refunds on failure?

Accepted Answer

You are never charged for failures — we offer 100% automatic refunds on failure! If a RunPod GPU worker encounters VRAM overload, network disconnection, or timeout before delivering your 48kHz audio, all 10 deducted credits are atomically and immediately refunded back to your ledger balance. Every transaction is verifiable in your billing history.

Question 11

How long does it take to generate a complete song?

Accepted Answer

The symbolic planning phase (ABC score, chord progression, and lyrics) generates within 2–5 seconds and can be instantly previewed via the browser synthesizer. Final 48kHz master rendering on RunPod GPU workers typically takes 30 to 60 seconds for a standard arrangement (approx. 1 to 2 minutes of music).
