Protocol & Open-Weights Model License

This document sets forth the licensing terms, intellectual property protections, commercial use conditions, and responsible AI safety guidelines governing the use of the YuE2 foundation models, related software weights, and the yue2music.com platform.

1. Open-Weights Model License (Apache 2.0 / YuE Community)

The foundational model weights and architecture code of YuE2-3B, YuE2-VAE, SheetSage2, and MERT2 are made available under permissive open-weights terms:

  • Free for Research & Academic Study: Non-commercial academic research, benchmarking, educational use, and non-profit experiments are completely free and unencumbered.
  • Commercial Permissiveness: You are permitted to integrate the YuE2 models into commercial products, cloud APIs, and entertainment media, subject to the safety and acceptable use conditions described herein.
  • Attribution Requirement: Any commercial redistribution of model weights, quantized fine-tunes, or derived weights must maintain clear attribution to Multimodal Art Projection (M·A·P) and include links to the original repository.

2. Ownership of Generated Output (Audio & ABC Scores)

We adhere to a creator-first policy regarding intellectual property:

  • Your Intellectual Property: You retain 100% ownership and copyright over any original lyrics, prompts, and bespoke musical scores you input into the system.
  • Generated Songs & Audio Stems: Subject to applicable regional copyright statutes regarding computer-generated works, yue2music.com claims zero copyright ownership over the audio files, stems, or ABC notation generated by your user session.
  • Commercial Monetization: You are free to distribute, stream, broadcast, sell, or license the audio files produced by your account on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and commercial video games.

3. Responsible AI & Prohibited Uses

To protect creators, performers, and copyright holders, users of YuE2 and yue2music.com agree never to use the platform for:

  1. Deceptive Deepfakes & Impersonation: Generating musical works that intentionally imitate a living artist's unique vocal identity without explicit consent, or misrepresenting AI-generated vocals as official releases of living artists.
  2. Infringement of Third-Party Copyright: Using prompts or custom input scores designed to produce verbatim replicas or substantial duplicates of existing copyrighted melodies or commercial master recordings.
  3. Hate Speech, Defamation, & Harassment: Generating lyrics or vocal content that promotes violence, discrimination, unlawful activities, or defamation against individuals or protected groups.
  4. Malicious Automation: Attempting to reverse-engineer, overwhelm, or launch denial-of-service attacks against yue2music.com GPU inference endpoints.

4. Fair Use & Training Data Disclosures

The YuE2 foundation model was trained on diverse public domain, permissively licensed, and synthetic datasets. The model employs symbolic planning to compose original note progressions rather than memorizing or stitching pre-recorded audio fragments.

If a copyright holder believes that an output generated through yue2music.com infringes on their proprietary musical work, they may submit an expedited takedown notice to dmca@yue2music.com containing:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
  • Direct URL and generation timestamp of the infringing output on yue2music.com.
  • Contact information and statement of good faith.

5. Limitation of Liability

yue2music.com provides the service and foundation models on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While YuE2 generates studio-quality 48kHz audio, we do not warrant that all outputs will meet specific broadcast guidelines or subjective artistic standards.
